Day 1: Drive from Arusha to Kilimanjaro National Park Marangu Gate, Trek to Mandara Hut

A first day of your short trek to Kilimanjaro starts after breakfast; drive to the Kilimanjaro National Park Gate for registration formalities then you will start with your short hike to Kilimanjaro. Recommended for acclimatization – side trip to Maundi Crater is a good way to see the surroundings including Northern Tanzania and Kenya. In the rainforest, look for towering Eucalyptus trees, bird life, and Colobus monkeys. Dinner and Overnight will be at Mandara hut 2715m.


Day 2: Trek from Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut

It’s your second day on the mountain; you will leave the glades of the rainforest and follow an ascending path on the open moorlands to the Horombo encampment. Views of Mawenzi and the summit of Kibo are amazing. Look for giant lobelias and groundsels. There you may start feeling the effects of the high altitude, Dinner and overnight at Horombo Hut 3,700 m.


Day 3: Descend from Horombo Hut to the Gate & Drive back to Arusha

In your final day you will get an early breakfast, continue with a descent takes you down through moorland to the Mandara Hut, through lush forest path to the National Park gate at Marangu. At lower elevations, it can be wet and muddy. Gaiters and trekking poles will help. A thin t-shirts can be plenty to wear so keep your waterproof rain gears on top of your back park in case of rain as it’s unpredictable on the mountain. A vehicle will meet you at Marangu village to drive you back to your hotel in Moshi / Arusha for an overnight which will be the end of your short Kilimanjaro climb.
