On this Lemosho Route 8 Days and Safari you will have 5 days taste of Tanzania safari after trek on the Lemosho route whic is the traditionally one of the quieter and lesser-known routes on the mountain. It’s also the newest and probably the most diverse in terms of the ecological systems and landscapes it passes through. The first two days of this route take you through lush rainforest before you emerge into heath and moorland then join the Machame Route on the third day. This narrow trail, which begins on the Western side of Kilimanjaro, has some very steep and undulating sections. Hikers overnight in tents.

Day 0: Arrival in Moshi or Arusha
Our friendly transfer driver will meet you at Kilimanjaro airport. After loading the luggage into the vehicle you will make your way to your hotel for the evening. You can relax the rest of the day or go and explore the small town of Arusha. Our team will meet you later the day to have a preliminary talk in preparation for the days to follow. After finalising all the registration papers you will continue another 15km on a bumpy road which will take you to the start of this trek deep in the rainforest. Today will be a shortest walk of the entire trek, about 2½ hours, which gives you a small taste of what lies ahead in the coming days. The walk takes you through dense and unspoiled rainforest, which is very different from the scenery you will have in the next couple of days. Your destination for the day is the beautiful Big Tree Camp at 2780m. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 2 Big Tree Camp (2780m) – Shira Camp 1 (3500m)

You will also pass the big Senecien that can grow to more or less 9 meters in height. Shira Camp 2 will be your destination for the night at (3900m), 400m more than night before. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 4 Shira Camp 2 (3900m) – Lava Tower (4640m) – Barranco Camp (3960m)

You will have a rest here before descending again. This is a so called acclimatising day, where you will climb high but sleep low, giving you a good idea of how your body reacts to altitude. The landscape will once again change as you pass through the Barranco Valley with its big Senecias and smaller Lobelia plants. After a long 6 – 7 hours you will reach your beautiful camp for the night the Barranco Camp. The crew will be there waiting with a well deserve evening meal before settling in for the night. You might have to use yours hands every now and then to get a better grip but rest assured there are no alpine climbing passages. Once at the top you will walk along the mountain ridge and if the weather allows you will have a great view of the southern glacier of Kibo as the Kibo summit. After 3 – 4 hours you will reach Karanga Camp for your overnight. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 6 Karanga Camp (4035m) – Barafu Camp (4640m)

Day 9 Arusha– Lake Manyara National Park
In the morning we will collect you from your hotel and drive you to Lake Manyara National Park. The park lies and is bordered between the Rift Valley Escarpment and the dusty Masai Steppe. On the western side is a forest and also the alkaline Manyara lake which covers the largest area of the park. The park was established in 1960 to give the elephants, giraffes, buffalo, antelopes and gazelles a protected habitat. The Lake Manyara National Park is also home to the tree climbing lions – tree climbing is a trait not normally found amongst big cats and it is quite a sight to see. Upon entering the park your driver will open the vehicle roof and you can then start your wild life watching in earnest. In the late afternoon you will arrive at Kirurumu Manyara Lodge for overnight. Lunch; Dinner

Day 10 Lake Manyara National Park – Serengeti National Park
After breakfast the safari tour marks the start of our program 5 days Serengeti migration-safari. It’s the way to the fertile crater highlands where the Iraqw people grow wheat, corn and coffee. At midday you will reach the plains of Serengeti National Park. The Serengeti National Park is the second largest park in Tanzania and is about the same size as Hawaii. The southern part is dominated by grassland and is therefore good hunting ground for the cheetah, while to the north / western parts a hillier tree savanna landscape dominates.
The Serengeti migration is famous of up to one million wildebeest and two hundred thousand zebras. This migration has become to be known as the “Great wildebeest Migration” and each year this natural spectacle is guaranteed. This in itself sets the Serengeti aside as a unique place to watch and observe wildlife. You will have your evening meal and overnight stay at Kati Kati Tented Camp. Breakfast; Lunch; Dinner

Day 11 Serengeti National Park Full day game drive
This is another third night of our program: 5 days Serengeti migration-safari.The whole day is devoted to you to observe the wildlife in the Serengeti National Park. The areas that you will visit depend upon the location of the herds. Generally the herds of wildebeest and zebras during the short rain season of October to November tend to be found moving from the hills in the north to the plains in the south. They return slowly during the longer rain season in April, May and June. Fluctuations in precipitation can affect the animal’s location from year to year; however your guide will know the exact location of the animals and the best vantage spots. You will overnight again at Kati Kati Tented Camp. Breakfast; Lunch; Dinner

Day 12: Serengeti National Park – Ngorongoro Conservation Area
After breakfast you will continue your tour of the Serengeti National Park. In the Seronera Valley you can watch the wildebeest, zebras as well lions and other big cats such as leopards and cheetahs. After lunch at a picnic place you will slowly drive in the direction of the Ngorongoro Crater. On the way you will pass the Olduvai Gorge which became world known due to the archeological work of the English research couple Leaky. In the sixties here they found the oldest remains of prehistoric man and in a small museum nearby their work is documented (a visit is optional). As soon as the crater’s edge is reached you will have a superb view into the caldera. Your lodge for the night will be at Rhino Lodge or Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge situated on the crater’s rim and you will be able to enjoy this once in a life time view as the sun sets. Breakfast; Lunch; Dinner

Day 13: Ngorongoro Crater –Arusha
After breakfast, marking the final day of our program: 5 days Serengeti migration-safari drive into the Ngorongoro crater. The Ngorongoro crater is the largest unbroken and unflooded caldera in the world and will fascinate you with unbelievable wildlife diversity. On the grass stepe and in the acacia tree woods you will find almost all species found on the east African savanna; with the exception of Topi, Masai Giraffe and Impala. Quite often you can observe the “Big Five” lions, elephants, buffalo, rhinoceros and leopards within a couple of hours. After an extensive wildlife tour and a picnic you will leave the caldera in the afternoon and drive back to Arusha. Breakfast; Lunch
